From May 19 to 23, 2025, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Senka Ibrišimbegović and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nermina Zagora from the Faculty of Architecture, University of Sarajevo, participated in a short research stay at Université Paris 8 Vincennes-Saint-Denis, as part of the “Art in Public Spaces” program, supported by a French Government Scholarship.
The visit was carried out in cooperation with MCF Arts Plastiques, Laboratoire AIAC, and the Department of Visual Arts, where the professors took part in field-based teaching and workshops within the course “Art in Public Spaces”, under the mentorship of Prof. Tania Ruiz. These activities, organized within the ERUA program, provided valuable insights into both theoretical and practical aspects of contemporary art in public space.
During their stay, the professors visited numerous locations across Paris, analyzing the interaction of artworks with the urban context—from sculptures and installations in the La Défense district to examples of street art in Caille du But.
As part of the program, they also gave lectures on their ongoing research focused on art and culture as catalysts of urban development, and on the transformation of urban voids into active public spaces—referred to as “urban rooms.” Their research is based on mapping and analyzing artistic interventions in public spaces in Sarajevo.
This mobility experience further strengthened international academic cooperation and contributed to knowledge exchange in the fields of contemporary art and urban practices.
