The final conference of the Architecture Pop-up Lab Exchange (APLE) project will take place on 26–27 March 2026 at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Sarajevo. As the concluding event of this Erasmus+ Capacity Building initiative, the conference brings together educators, researchers, and practitioners to reflect on the evolving relationship between architectural education and professional practice.
Under the theme “Teaching Practices, Practicing Architecture,” the conference explores how architectural pedagogy can respond to rapid technological, social, and professional transformations. The topic reflects the core ambition of the APLE project to strengthen the connection between academic learning environments and real-world architectural practice, encouraging new models of teaching that are collaborative, experimental, and socially responsive.
The conference programme is structured around four thematic areas: Innovating Pedagogy: Connecting Academia and Practice, Digital Tools and Future Competencies, Architectural Management and Systemic Thinking, and Inclusive Public Engagement and Collaborative Partnerships. These themes highlight key questions related to the future of architectural education and the competencies required for the next generation of architects.
The conference received more than 30 paper submissions, from which 20 papers were selected for presentation through a peer-review process. The selected contributions represent a diverse range of perspectives on innovation in architectural education, design methodologies, and the integration of professional practice within contemporary architectural schools. Presentations will be held both in person and online, enabling wider international participation.
The APLE consortium is pleased to conclude this successful project with a conference that brings together the experiences, research outcomes, and pedagogical innovations developed throughout the initiative. We warmly invite colleagues, students, and professionals to join the conference, and participate in discussions on the future of architectural education and practice.
