On Thursday, May 15, 2025, first-year Master’s students from the Faculty of Architecture, University of Sarajevo, attended a guest lecture by Assoc. Prof. and designer Nataša Perković, held at the National Gallery of Bosnia and Herzegovina as part of her first solo museum exhibition titled ENSŌ.
The ENSŌ exhibition offers a retrospective of Nataša Perković’s design work, focusing on contemporary Bosnian and Herzegovinian furniture design, with special emphasis on the relationship between form and the spirit of space – a central concept of her design philosophy. More about the exhibition can be found here.
The guest lecture and exhibition visit were organized as part of the course Interior Design 3, which focuses on the design of public interior spaces and custom furniture and equipment. The course is taught by Prof. Dr. Erdin Salihović, Prof. Dr. Nermina Zagora, and Senior Teaching Assistant Harun Sabljaković.
After the lecture and exhibition tour, students and faculty visited the Zanat showroom, where they were introduced to the work of this successful Bosnian-Herzegovinian brand, known for its handcrafted furniture that combines traditional woodcarving from Konjic—listed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity—with contemporary design. It was also highlighted that Zanat collaborates with world-renowned designers, whose names you can find here, further strengthening the brand’s position on the international design scene.
This lecture and the visit provided students with direct insight into contemporary design and production practices in a local context and further encouraged them to explore the relationship between design, space, culture, and artisanal tradition.
