Mirko Ovadia graduated from the Department of Architecture at the Technical Faculty in Sarajevo in 1960. From 1962 to 1977, he worked as an assistant to Professor Jahiel Finci at the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism in Sarajevo, in the course Residential Buildings Design.
After his academic career, he joined “Unioninvest”, where he worked as a leading architect and project manager until the outbreak of war in 1992. Throughout his professional career, he designed numerous notable projects, such as the “Feroelektro” Business Building in Sarajevo, the “Unioninvest” Business Building in Sarajevo, the Jewish Museum and the reconstruction and interior design of the Old Temple in Sarajevo, the Jewish Municipality in Sarajevo, the reconstruction and interior of the Synagogue in Sarajevo, residential buildings in the center of Vareš (co-authored with J. Finci, Z. Ugljen, and Dž. Karić), and the School Center in Vogošća (co-authored with Z. Simišić), among others.
He received many awards in architectural competitions, including the 6th of April Award and the Collegium Artisticum Award for the project of row residential buildings on Crni Vrh in Sarajevo. He was also a member of the jury for the “Borba” Award for Architecture.
Since 1992, he has been living and working in London.
